Position Purpose The Paint Technician is responsible for refinishing of all assigned vehicles, following the written repair order and ABRA's operational excellence processes. The Paint Technician plays a key role in delivering on ABRA's promise of speed, quality and customer satisfaction. Key Contributions
Pre-Op & Repair Planning: Meets daily with repair center management & paint team to prioritize work efficiently to meet deadlines. Prepares spray-out panels to determine blend needs. Team Engagement & Problem-Solving: Is an active and prepared participant in morning board meetings. Knows status of assigned vehicles and helps problem-solve on getting and keeping all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery. Vehicle Repair/Refinishing: Performs all refinish procedures according to factory specifications and ABRA policy. Ensures all formulations, preparations, top coating and curing meet OEM recommended standards for proper application sequence, timing and materials usage. Maintains acceptable cost per paint labor hour. Safe & Organized Workplace: Consistently utilizes all required safety equipment and follows proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines. Adheres to all requirements for hazardous waste disposal. Participates in monthly safety meetings and utilizes information on the job. Follows vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment, including maintenance of paint booth and booth filters. Maintains a clean and organized work space. Position Requirements ASE certification in refinishing procedures; may require certification by paint and/or equipment vendor(s). Auto Body Vo-Tech certificate preferred. Knowledge of manufacturers' repair/refinishing processes & adherence to ABRA's processes. Ability to use selected vendor materials efficiently and cost effectively. Demonstrated commitment to continued learning by participating in ongoing I-CAR ProLevel training and other ABRA/industry-related training. Must maintain a valid state drivers license in order to drive any customer or company vehicle. P redictable and reliable attendance required. Physical Demands/Working Conditions Periodic lifting and carrying objects over 50 pounds. Reaching above and below shoulder level. Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping to complete or inspect repairs. Manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination to operate equipment. May be exposed to repetitive tasks involving hand and arm motion. May be required to inspect vehicles outdoors in inclement weather. Visual acuity for color matching. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, high levels of dust and noise in repair center. Must be able to wear protective equipment, including respirator. Reporting Relationships / Contacts Reports to the General Manager or Assistant General Manager of repair center. Has daily contact with other employees, and periodic interaction with paint vendors. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
