67 an hour Scope of Role Performs journey-level enforcement of City of Albemarle code of ordinances for the Planning and Development Services Department.
An employee in this class performs journey-level code enforcement.
The employee investigates, documents and resolves ordinance violations; keeping track of compliance, sending letters and fines when necessary and reporting findings to Director, City Manager and elected officials on an as needed basis.
Work may occasionally include assisting with the coordinated guidance and regulation of the growth and development of the City, and administering ordinances related to zoning, subdivision regulations, appearance, floodplain, signage, minimum housing, historic district and other growth and development issues.
Work involves considerable public contact often in sensitive or emotional issues requiring judgment, firmness, and tact.
Work is performed under general supervision of the Planning and Development Services Director and is evaluated through conferences, review of work results obtained, and overall acceptance of the programs by the City's citizens.
Essential Duties Receives and documents complaints from property owners, tenants, neighbors and other residents and business owners of code violations by phone, email and in person.
Routinely performs windshield surveys of commercial corridors and neighborhood sweeps to identify possible code violations.
Performs individual site visits, documents violations and when possible speaking to responsible parties, informing them of applicable code and requirements for abatement of violations.
Documents the results of site visits, sends notice of violation letters and keeps track of cases sending additional notification and fines as needed.
Manages a database of available contractors and undertakes a bid process for abatement of violations.
Schedules and performs follow site visits to confirm abatement of violations and continued compliance for repeat offenses.
Uses a variety of computer programs, including internet based permitting software to maintain a database of cases from start to finish, including preparing reports as needed.
Answers a variety of questions from develops, architects and the general public about the City's nuisance ordinances and related sections of City zoning ordinance.
Assists other Planning Staff with related enforcement and code compliance issues when needed.
Performs other related work as required.
Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in planning, geography, public administration, community development or related field, and considerable professional experience in public sector planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.
Physical Requirements Must be able to perform the basic physical life operational functions of stooping, kneeling, reaching, crouching, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects.
Must possess the visual acuity to examine and work with maps, use measurement devices, operate a computer, inspect sites regarding planning issues, and do extensive reading.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
